Children’s Ministry

Trinity seeks a lay person to serve as our full-time Director of Children and Family Ministries. Our

ideal candidate is a person who can nurture a sense of belonging in children and families, know how

to teach and understand how children learn, be creative and energetic, organize and inspire

volunteers, exhibit proficient organizational and technological skills, and work collaboratively with

others. We use Godly Play at Trinity, and our Director must be familiar with and invested in this

curriculum. Our Director of Children and Family Ministries will be a person who loves people, has

an active personal spiritual life, has strong relational skills, and is a self-starter who can manage

multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.

 

Responsibilities include:

● Overseeing all activities related to children from birth through 5th grade

● Recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteers for Sunday school and other programs, and

overseeing our Nursery Supervisor

● Maintaining integrity of classroom appearance, functionality, bulletin boards, etc., including

ordering, obtaining, and restocking materials as needed

● Selecting and implementing curriculum for all children’s programming

● Planning special annual events like Vacation Bible School, Advent wreath making, children’s

Christmas pageant, Easter egg hunts, etc.

● Planning family-wide, multi-generational activities

● Leading weekly children’s worship

● Assisting with children’s choir

● Leading and coordinating monthly activities for junior youth group (3rd-5th graders)

● Communicating effectively with parish families

● Nurturing an environment of acceptance and inclusivity so that ALL children may

experience the love and grace of God

● Attending weekly staff meetings

● Maintaining Episcopal church protocols and practices for children’s safety.

Trinity provides flexibility with regard to the workday, since some children and family programming

occurs outside regular hours. This is a full-time, in-person position.

 

Qualifications

A four-year degree, preferably in Education or a related field; OR extensive work experience in

related fields that involve the skills needed in curriculum planning and implementation and an

understanding of child development. Completion of Godly Play Core Training strongly preferred.

 

Compensation

Compensation commensurate with experience.

Executive Pastor

Summary of Position:

The Executive Pastor is supervised by the Senior Pastor, serving as an administrative leader, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer. The Executive Pastor’s core responsibility is to ensure organizational infrastructure, fiscal integrity, and disciple making processes exist, are monitored, and are maintained so the church fulfills its mission and vision. When hired, the Executive Pastor will be referred to as the “Administrative Pastor” at Waterway.

 

Ministry Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the Lead Pastor, pastoral team, and Elders in the development of short- and long-term strategic planning for the church.
  2. Provide direct oversight to various volunteer-led ministries.
  3. Create processes to recruit volunteers and help all church members find a place to serve.
  4. Oversee training programs for Waterway volunteers.
  5. Lead evaluation processes for volunteer roles and ministries.
  6. Attend the meetings that are necessary to help each team function well.
  7. Preach a few times per year if gifted and interested.

 

Operating Responsibilities:

  1. Serve on the Waterway Church Elder Board.
  2. Chair the Waterway Church Leadership Team.
  3. Oversee the work of the Waterway Church Property Team.
  4. Develop, track and implement all Waterway Church policies.
  5. Manage all church legal matters, including insurance policies and compliance items.
  6. Assist in making and implementing key leadership decisions on behalf of the Lead Pastor and Elder Board.
  7. Provide leadership to all non-pastoral staff. This includes the Office Manager, Administrative Assistant, and Custodian.
  8. Facilitate and co-lead weekly staff meetings.
  9. Oversee technology systems for Waterway Church.

 

Financial Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the work of the Waterway Church Finance Team.
  2. Work with Finance Team to complete audits and regular financial review processes.
  3. Help the Finance Team to develop and implement an annual budget.
  4. Work closely with Finance Team to maintain policies and procedures.
  5. Develop and present financial reports for Congregational Business Meetings.
  6. Oversee all Waterway Church financial activities, including special funds, debt payment, loans, large gifts, capital campaigns, etc.

 

Candidate should be proficient and confident in the following areas:

  1. Takes initiative by providing vision and leadership for their areas of ministry.
  2. Thinks strategically to discover creative and innovative solutions.
  3. Recognizes spiritual gifts as key components in volunteer management practices. 
  4. Displays engaging communication skills (1:1, team, groups).
  5. Possesses strong organizational skills for growing, mobilizing, and maintaining teams and programs. 

 

Additional Requirements

  1. Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Tim. 3:1-6, Tit. 1:6-9, & 1 Pet. 5:1-3).
  2. Possesses a personal life consistent with biblical standards.
  3. Has a passion to increase the church’s effectiveness and to help shape the spiritual lives of people through discipleship.
  4. Wholeheartedly supports Waterway’s vision, mission, and statement of faith.
  5. Embraces the statements and policies of AMEC (Alliance of Mennonite Evangelical Congregations).
  6. Participates in other aspects of church life as an active Waterway member.
  7. Is self-motivated, self-disciplined, and teachable.
  8. Is a team player and committed to unity in the workplace.
  9. Must pass a PA state criminal record check, FBI criminal record check, and child abuse history clearances.

 

Professional Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in either pastoral ministry/biblical studies or business administration is preferred.
  2. Experience leading and serving with others in a multi-staff environment is preferred.
  3. Five or more years of leadership and management experience is preferred.

 

Salary/Benefits

Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be discussed later in the interview process. Funds for health insurance and housing allowance are included in the overall compensation package. Benefits include paid vacation, professional expense allowances, retirement plan, and regular sabbaticals. The compensation package is evaluated on an annual basis.

Live Oak Community Church is seeking a full-time Kids Ministry Director.  

 

Live Oak Community Church (www.live-oak.org) is a growing congregation of over 900 people located in the West Texas city of Lubbock. Lubbock is a town of over 250,000 people and the home of several colleges, including Texas Tech University. 

Live Oak views this staffing position as strategically vital role in achieving the mission of Making More and Stronger followers of Jesus. The Kids Ministry Director role would be responsible for leading Kids Ministry volunteers serving with grades Kindergarten-5th Grade. 

This position is responsible for the oversight, development, and growth of the adult leaders including developing new leaders and group opportunities. This individual would work closely with the Pastor of Next Gen Ministry in helping individuals onboard into serving opportunities throughout the Kids Ministry. The Director of Kids Ministry would also oversee the curriculum implementation for the specified age groups. Finally, the position would be responsible for helping students and leaders connect to their next steps in their discipleship journey of following Christ.
