STATUS: Part-time
General Purpose of Position:
To build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to
youth ministry (in the areas of worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach/evangelism) and
oversee the children’s department while serving as a spiritual leader and role model. The
candidate’s theological position should be compatible with the Church’s doctrinal position and he or
she should ascribe to basic Baptist beliefs such as:
Jesus is fully human and fully God. He is the only savior of humanity.
Humanity is sinful and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.
Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
Baptism is by immersion as modeled by Jesus Christ in His baptism
The Bible is the true and divinely inspired word of God.
The local church has Christ as it’s head and is autonomous in its government.
Organizational Relationship and Supervision:
Reports to: Senior Pastor as on-site manager as well as spiritual and ministry guidance. Personnel
Committee as position supervisor. Reviews will be conducted by the Personnel committee with
input from the Senior Pastor.
Attendance at the following meetings is expected: Church Council, bi-weekly staff meetings, youth
committee, and children’s committee meetings.
Qualifications:
Exhibits a strong walk with God though a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
Strong Biblical foundation
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills,
and computer skills.
Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and
implement a youth ministry.
Able to make decisions, solve problems, manage conflict, and work well on a team
Knowledge of student culture and experience in effectively communicating God’s truth to
students in ways they can understand

Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate for students and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns, and
needs of youth in the local church and community.
2. Help plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced youth ministry in the areas
of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach.
3. Provide youth with Biblical knowledge and show how it relates to their lives.
4. Plan and lead youth Bible study on Wednesday nights.
5. Recruit, develop, and deploy volunteers, leadership teams, and small group
teachers/leaders in a discipleship program for youth ministry.
6. Plan and execute biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and high-energy events and
classes for youth and children. Ideally, there should be 2 youth and 1 children’s activity
scheduled per month.
7. Plan and lead summer camp/mission trip opportunities for students.
8. Participate in special services and events sponsored by the church such as VBS, holiday
observances, and outreach events.
9. Lead Children’s Time as part of the regular Sunday morning service and participate in
Children’s Church as scheduled.
10. Mentor youth in developing leadership skills.
11. Recruit and train volunteers who work with youth in all aspects of youth ministry and
ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratios.
12. Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and
resources that relate to youth and youth ministries.
13. Keep records of youth participation and manage the youth ministry budget.
14. Communicate in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available
resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, bulletin board, etc.). Ensure
communication with church staff and leadership, parents, and the congregation as a
whole.

15. Encourages students’ involvement in various outreach/fellowship/mission/service
ministries.
16. Ensure that the Child Protection Policy is observed in all youth and children’s ministry
settings.
17. Be available during Kid’s Praise and the Sunday School hour and check in with youth
and children’s Sunday School classes on a regular basis.
