Position Description

Position Title: Worship Pastor

Department: Worship & Creative

Reports To: Executive Pastor - Worship & Creative

Employee Status: Full-time, Exempt

Location: Central Campus

Date: September 2025

Purpose:

To lead and develop the worship ministry of Definition Church in alignment with the culture, mission and vision of the church.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Lead Definition Church, staff, and teams into a passionate encounter with God both in church experiences and in their everyday lives.
• Provide oversight, structure and development for both the worship staff and worship teams of Definition Church
• Plan, organize and lead worship for weekend experiences along with the other worship staff and in conjunction with creative and ministry teams
• Recruit and develop leaders and teams for weekend worship experiences and other ministry areas like college and youth environments.
• Lead and develop both the practical and spiritual aspects of worship for both the worship staff and worship team members
• Provide direction and oversight for music selection and team standards

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Solid biblical and theological knowledge surrounding worship
• Proficient in playing at least one instrument, preferably guitar or piano
• Ability to communicate with and develop other musicians including giving gentle, but direct feedback
• Experience using Click and Tracks
• 4-5 years of experience leading in worship ministry
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proven track record of building and developing teams
• Strong working knowledge of Planning Center (Services) and Ableton

• Must pass a background check

Time Requirements:

The Worship Pastor position is a full-time position and work hours should be in alignment with what is notated in the staff handbook. Involvement in a group and attendance in Sunday experiences are also required.
