Worship Leader

Cornerstone Church of West Columbia, a Global Methodist Church, is seeking a Worship leader. 

This position will initially be part-time, up to 10 hours/week, with majority of the hours being on Sunday. The main focus will be leading the Sunday morning worship service, as well as planning, coordinating and implementing with clergy, lay persons, musicians and the AV team. This position has the potential to evolve as the church music ministry grows. The candidate may be working toward a degree in a related field or have experience in a related field.

Ideal candidate will: 

• have a strong-spiritual background and be Christ-centered
• be energetic and a confident song/worship leader, preferably be proficient with an instrument, such as guitar, keyboard or piano
• be a good communicator/public speaker
• be flexible and able to improvise
• be able to work with all ages and worship styles (traditional and contemporary)
• have a passion for Jesus and music!
   

Job duties include:

• planning (along with our pastor) and leading the music for a blended service 
• locating and making choices about music to be used, consulting with pastor on sermon topics and scripture
• creatively blending traditional hymns with contemporary music, may include some teaching moments to familiarize the congregation with unfamiliar but relevant lyrics and tunes to create meaningful, worshipful experiences.
• preparing and distributing the order of worship to Lay team and Pastor, enabling a connected worship experience
• rehearsing with musicians as needed
• preparing music if needed: lyric sheets, chord chart, and sheet music and send necessary digital media to AV team to be included as slides. (e.g., Pro Presenter)
