Job description

Position: Worship Director

Supervisor: Administrative Pastor

Classification: Part-time Staff

Compensation: Part-Time Salary

Term: One year commitment

 

General Description: The worship director will serve as a member of the Real Life Church Team, guiding the congregation in response to the Lord's goodness and grace. The Worship Director will be responsible for the guidance and execution of all musical elements of worship services. The Worship Director will strengthen the mission of RLC by leading creative and production teams to implement excellence through the creative arts and the AV experience, as well as, pursuing discipleship, encouragement, and a spiritually healthy community.

 

Compensation: Salary and other benefits will be discussed during the screening and interview process.

  • Salvation, Spiritual Growth, and Christian Character. Possesses a close relationship with Jesus Christ, pursues Christlike holiness and maturity, and demonstrates a passion for Christ and His Kingdom through personal spiritual disciplines, service, accountability, and missional living.
  • Biblical Fidelity. Demonstrates a faithfulness to Scripture and sound doctrine.
  • Ability to Lead and Disciple. Regularly engages others in gospel conversations and casts the vision for God’s plan that all believers live in community. Encourages and trains others to deeper involvement in the local church and living missional lives.
  • People Skills. Demonstrates strong communication skills, initiative, and self-motivation. Has the ability to work with the RLC Leadership Team as a positive contributor to the team, and possesses the ability to lead a wide variety of personalities through the various events, and is able demonstrates a sincere love for the Church and healthy community. Contributes to a positive church environment through a commitment to be solution-focused, a willingness to engage in difficult conversations for the sake of unity and spiritual growth, and the ability to lead others to do the same.
  • Professional Skills. Demonstrates proficiency as an instrumentalist and vocalist. Proficient in use of current recording, editing, and track resources.
  • Desire to Excellence. Strives to “make it better” and uses creativity in the planning, managing and execution of events.
  • Servant Leader: Willing to be a true servant leader and willing to do the “dirty work” that is sometimes necessary with the position.

 

Education & Experience Requirements: Undergraduate degree, Worship Arts education, and/or Theological education are preferred. Equivalent ministry leadership experience and training will be considered.

 

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Worship Leadership

  • Ensures a spiritually authentic worship experience by creating, leading, and implementing all musical elements of church services. These services consist of: Sunday Morning Worship, Worship Wednesday that occurs on the 5th Wednesday of the month, and other special services and events as requested.
  • Contributes to the vision, planning, and coordination of all worship and special services by collaborating with the Senior Pastor, Administrative Pastor, and Production Director.
  • Lead Sunday morning sound check with team
  • Ensures the Worship Team is prepared by organizing and leading weekly rehearsals.
  • Record harmonies for songs and upload to Planning Center for team to have additional rehearsal throughout week
  • Create monthly schedules of Sunday morning setlists
  • Research new songs for team to practice and lead
  • Work closely with Production Director to ensure cohesiveness between AV worship sets and services

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and mentor musicians and vocalists volunteers to create a unified and talented worship team.
  • Responsible for execution of a minimum of one annual team training for Worship Team
  • Hold audition opportunities for vocalists and musicians
  • Develop and schedule teams of instrumentalists and vocalists
  • Provide ongoing discipleship and strong sense of community by planning and implementing team gatherings throughout the year such as: retreats, conferences, parties, team only worship night, etc.

Administrative Support

  • Manages the operation of RLC musical and AV equipment and reports any issues to the Administrative Pastor in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to a strong sense of team by attending and participating in weekly staff meetings and offering spiritual insights and ideas throughout the year.
  • Works closely with Administrative Assistant to submit any inventory and/or supply requests by the weekly deadline.
  • Leads a Life Group each semester
  • Completes other duties, as assigned
