Job description

THE POSITION
Westminster Academy, in Memphis, TN, a classical Christian school of 465 students, seeks a full-time upper school math teacher, beginning fall of 2025, to teach select grades in 7th-10th. Westminster Academy is committed to teaching all truth as God’s truth through the lens of Scripture and a Christian worldview. The Upper School math teacher will be expected to hold regular math study labs for students who need extra practice.
All employees of Westminster Academy must strive to “love the Lord in front of our students” and make the Christian faith observable in all aspects of the school day and community. This position is a minister of the Gospel in all facets of life at Westminster Academy. He/she is a role model for students and faculty and his/her walk with the Lord should be evident. The Christian mission, vision, and statement of faith of the school must guide the upper school math teacher as he/she interacts with parents, students, faculty, and all those within and outside the Westminster Academy community.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for the upper school math teacher position will have 3-5 years of teaching experience. Experienced math teachers who lack classical Christian school experience are still encouraged to apply insofar as they are willing to undergo classical Christian training.
1. Possess an obvious love for students and a passion for shepherding their hearts and minds.
2. Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
3. Display a great passion for and mastery of math.
4. Cultivate a love for mathematics within students, engaging all their senses, stirring their imaginations, and filling them with wonder.
5. Implement the hallmarks of a classical education—Socratic teaching, the integration of subjects, and the integration of Christian faith to show how math reveals the nature and character of God.
6. Be eager to teach classically, build a biblical worldview for students, and collaborate with other faculty members to foster integration with history, science, art, and theology classes.
7. Display the spirit of a life-longer learner.
