The System Director of Ministry Identity and Spirituality provides transformative leadership in nurturing the Catholic identity, mission, and values within the health system. This role is responsible for fostering a culture of wholistic care that integrates spirituality into the organization's operations. Collaborating with the system ministry formation team, the System Director will assist in the planning and delivery of formation programs for leaders and Associates, ensuring alignment with the seven Core Commitments of the Ministry Identity Assessment. The System Director will work closely with Mission Integration Associates to create a spiritually enriching environment across our healthcare ministry. The System Director will partner with HEDI and Human Resources to continuously nurture our values-based culture.
Major Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation:
- Lead the design and execution of programs that measurably integrate spirituality into organizational operations and workplace culture, including:
- Translating Catholic identity and CHRISTUS core values into actionable behaviors.
- Creating organizational rituals and reflections for events such as CHRISTUS Day and Heritage Day.
- Overseeing the chapel at the system office, organizing celebrations, interfaith prayer services, memorial support, and liturgical events.
Living Our Values:
- Serve as co-sponsor of the Living Our Values initiative with Human Resources to operationalize values behaviors and promote Associate recognition.
Heritage Center and Chapel Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, scheduling, and communication for exhibits and services at the CHRISTUS Heritage Center and Chapel.
Educational Materials Development:
- Collaborate in creating and delivering educational initiatives on mission and core values integration, Catholic identity, and the history and heritage of the sponsoring congregations.
Ministry Identity Assessment (MIA) Collaboration:
- Partner with the Vice President of Spiritual Care and Ministry Identity to implement the MIA process and maintain relationships with the Catholic Health Association (CHA) and third-party Universities, ensuring up-to-date agreements and effective data collection.
Annual Reporting:
- Assist in preparing an annual report on mission integration for the System Board and Governance.
Ministry Formation:
- Collaborate with the Ministry Formation team to plan and deliver relevant programs effectively.
Support for Mission Integration:
- Engage in shared responsibilities within the Mission Integration department to enhance overall effectiveness and alignment with system priorities.
Education:
- Graduate level degree in theology, ministry, or related field.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in ministry within a Catholic or healthcare setting.
Skills:
- Deep understanding of Catholic theology, organizational spirituality, and the ethical and religious directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing programs that foster the spiritual identity of individuals and organizations.
- Strong communication abilities with a talent for collaboration across diverse teams and engaging leaders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead within a complex, multi-site organization.
- Personal values and sense of vocation align with the mission, core values, and vision of CHRISTUS Health.
- A practicing Catholic with experience in a ministry within the Church.
- Knowledge of the history and heritage of the sponsoring Congregations; understanding of the Catholic Church, specifically Catholic social teachings, and of the Ethical and religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
