Job Description for Full Time Pastor at First Lutheran Church

Summary Description:
First Lutheran Church (FLC) of Algona, Iowa is seeking a full-time Pastor. Algona is a community of 5000 located in North Central Iowa. FLC is a strong and active congregation that strives to meet the varied needs of its members and community, whether those needs be physical, emotional or spiritual. First Lutheran has a high and active volunteer rate, is financially solvent, is forward thinking with its use of technology and social media and has a vigorous youth program.

Education/Experience/Requirements:
Fully ordained or working towards ordination in ELCA Church
Open to working with pastors of other denominations as approved by ELCA Synod

Position Responsibilities:
Prepare message for two weekly services- one on Wednesday evenings in conjunction with our youth education (September through April) and Sunday mornings
Coordinate and/or oversee various ministries, committees and associated leaders within the church, but not limited too-
o Student/Youth Education
o Adult Education
o Visiting & Engaging our Elderly Population
o Worship & Music (both contemporary & traditional)
o Technology
Work directly with the Office Manager & Church Council
Continue, expand or create mission projects
Actively participates in Congregational Care- developing personal relationships with many in the congregation, making hospital visits & shut-in visits and responding to crisis & emergency calls and generally meeting the spiritual, emotional and physical needs as appropriate & feasible.
Other responsibilities as assigned &/or agreed upon.
