Position Overview
Join Voice Up as a Music Teacher & Lead Vocalist Intern, creating original music that bridges diverse musical traditions to address mental health awareness and community connection. You'll compose and perform songs that span multiple genres - from R&B to folk, jazz to Afrobeat, and country music - while focusing on messages of hope, healing, and social change.
Intellectual Property & Revenue Structure
- Interns maintains full ownership of all original intellectual property
- 50/50 split of net proceeds from all commercial use of created works
- Retention of rights to use intellectual property in personal portfolio
- Co-branding opportunities on all products and materials
- Transparent quarterly revenue reporting and distribution
- Clear attribution rights on all published works
- Collaborative marketing opportunities
- Input on product development and distribution
Key Responsibilities
- Compose original songs focused on mental and behavioral health themes
- Create music that bridges different cultural and musical traditions
- Develop lyrics that address social issues while offering hope
- Collaborate with musicians from various backgrounds
- Participate in weekly Saturday afternoon collaborative sessions with our nationwide team of student leaders
- Document the songwriting and creative process
- Research musical traditions and their role in social movements
- Build connections between different musical communities
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university
- Strong musical composition and performance abilities
- Experience in multiple musical genres
- Understanding of music's role in social change
- Ability to write meaningful, impactful lyrics
- Basic music production skills
- Cultural sensitivity and appreciation
- Interest in mental health advocacy
