Job Overview
The Minister of Music plays a vital role in the spiritual life of our African American church. This position involves fostering a collaborative environment and enhancing worship experiences through music. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively to teach music (in parts) and direct choirs.
Responsibilities
Plan, practice and play appropriate music for worship services and special events, and community gatherings.
Mentor and educate choir members, musicians, and volunteers in musical techniques and spiritual growth.
Communicate effectively with church leadership to align music ministry with overall church vision and goals.
Collaborate with other ministries to integrate music into various church activities.
Provide music during significant life events such as weddings, funerals, and baptisms.
Experience
Proven experience in leading music ministry or similar roles within a church or community setting.
Strong background in vocal performance, instrumental proficiency, or both.
Demonstrated ability to mentor others in musical skills and spiritual development.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with individuals of all ages.
Leadership experience in coordinating teams or groups is highly desirable.
This position is essential for creating a vibrant worship atmosphere that encourages participation and spiritual growth within the community.
