About Oaks Ministries

Oaks Ministries exists to empower students to become Christ-centered leaders who transform their communities with the hope of the Gospel. Rooted in Isaiah 61:3–5, our vision is to see students grow into Oaks of Righteousness, using their God-given gifts to serve and lead in Augusta and beyond.

Mission Alignment

The Middle School Coordinator supports the mission of Oaks Ministries by shepherding middle school students from under-resourced neighborhoods in downtown Augusta through relational ministry, discipleship, and engaging programming. This role is highly relational and presence-driven, requiring creativity, consistency, and a deep love for middle school students during a formative season of growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful, trusting relationships with middle school students through consistent presence in schools, neighborhoods, and families
  • Regularly check in with students and parents to support academic, social, and spiritual growth
  • Attend students’ extracurricular activities (sports, performances, school events, etc.)

Program Leadership – Urban Leadership Project (ULP)

  • Plan, lead, and implement weekly Middle School ULP gatherings on Tuesday nights
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers serving with middle school students
  • Plan engaging activities, speakers, and teaching content aligned with Oaks’ mission
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for students

Events & Experiences

  • Plan and implement special events, outings, and fun experiences for middle school students throughout the year
  • Plan and lead a Middle School Summer Camp experience, coordinating logistics, volunteers, and programming

Discipleship & Development

  • Provide ongoing discipleship and spiritual leadership for middle school students
  • Teach or prepare age-appropriate biblical lessons for ULP, camps, and other programming

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the High School Coordinator to align vision, calendars, and shared events
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly evaluations with Co-Directors
  • Assist with “all hands on deck” ministry events (e.g., Trunk or Treat, Fundraising Dinner, etc.)

Skills & Qualifications

  • Love for Jesus and His Word, with a desire to live a Christ-centered life
  • Experience working with middle school students, preferably in an urban ministry context
  • Highly relational; able to connect naturally with students and families
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Flexible schedule (urban ministry is not a 9–5 job)
  • Ability to recruit, lead, and support volunteers
  • Commitment to Oaks Ministries’ values and culture

Employer Details
Oaks Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit in downtown Augusta, Georgia, committed to empowering students from under-resourced neighborhoods to become Christ-centered leaders who transform their communities with the hope of the Gospel. Since 2011, our team has walked alongside children, youth, and families through after-school programs, summer camps, leadership development, discipleship, mentoring, and paid high school internships. We serve students from PreK through young adulthood, providing consistent relationships, academic support, biblical teaching, and opportunities for students to grow in character, confidence, and leadership. At Oaks, we believe long-term transformation happens through presence, trust, and the hope of the Gospel. Our desire is not simply to run programs, but to build a community where students are known, loved, challenged, and equipped to follow Jesus and lead with purpose in their schools, families, neighborhoods, and beyond.
