Field Chairs are faculty members who are appointed by the Vice President and Dean of Moody Theological Seminary and report to the Dean of Faculty of MTS. Field Chairs lead and supervise the faculty of their fields to foster an experience that challenges the students to think Christianly and critically and prepares the person for effective service for the cause of Christ around the world and that promotes the ongoing development of the faculty of the field in question. Full chairs are required to be on campus three days a week. Field Chairs are responsible to lead the faculty within their department in implementing the educational vision of the Moody Theological Seminary. Field Chairs are the key implementers of the vision within the education academic group. Field Chairs are to lead in a collaborative fashion with their faculty colleagues. Field Chairs assist the Dean of Faculty in course scheduling and decision making on course delivery modalities for each term. Field Chairs are to collaborate with the Dean of Online Education and the Registrar in the development of the schedule. Field Chairs are to work with the faculty in their department in the assignment of degree and non-degree courses in the various modalities that they teach. Field Chairs represent academic programs in each school Academic Affairs meeting that involve program development and curricular decisions. Field Chairs are members of the academic affairs committee representing their various department curricular needs and contributing to the curricular decisions. Field Chairs receive and approve curricular recommendations from the Curriculum committee. Field Chairs oversee all curriculum mapping of courses within the degrees housed in their department, working with, and supported by the office of teaching and learning. Field chairs oversee the ongoing assessment of courses and programs in their field, supported by the office of teaching and learning. Field Chairs are responsible for Faculty Evaluation Work with the prospective faculty person to confirm their annual goals with particular focus on research and writing. Coordinate and schedule the annual faculty performance review Work with the second evaluators chosen by the faculty person who is either in the same discipline or same department to coordinate a joint evaluation process Field Chairs are responsible for Faculty Development Field chairs are responsible for the agenda of the monthly department meeting which will include a faculty development focus Field chairs are responsible for one major faculty department training per academic year for their department Field chairs work with the faculty and approve the annual faculty personal development plan, serving as first approver of the allotted faculty development funds. Field Chairs assist the VP and Dean of Faculty in Faculty Recruitment In conjunction with the VP and Dean of MTS and Dean of Faculty, the Field Chair is responsible for developing or editing the prospective faculty opening position description. Field chairs chair or the chairs designee, chair the faculty search committees for their field. As members of the full-time teaching faculty, they are eligible for reduced load and/or stipend, depending on expected workload. As a full-time faculty member, field chairs are also responsible for regular student interaction and thus will plan eight hours per week of office hours that are available to students. As a full-time faculty member, field chairs are also responsible for personal scholarship goals as any other faculty member. Participation at the following required meetings: Monthly Faculty meeting, Faculty Summer Institute, Weekly Presidents Chapel, Alumni Day at Founders Week, and Fall Missions Conference Other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Ph.D, in Applied Theology and Global Church Ministries or a related discipline. Commitment and ability to teach existing Applied Theology and Global Church Ministry courses as well as to develop new ones. Desire to grow in their spiritual lives and develop as mentors of students A commitment to transformational learning and the development of the whole student, demonstrated through a dedication to Christ-centered teaching and learning, mentoring, and advising. An attitude of teamwork, openness, and appreciation for the diversity of ideas within the field. Effective interpersonal and communication skills A high level of personal integrity, energy, and resilience. Teaching ability and a proven commitment to educating students A record of academic scholarship through publication in various print and media forums and a commitment to scholarship and service for the purpose of enhancing the classroom experience for students An understanding of and commitment to the authority of Scripture, our theology and mission, and our relationship within broader evangelicalism A commitment to combining academic excellence and biblical truth with practical ministry preparation A desire to become part of a community of teacher/scholars where regular interaction, the exchange of ideas, and cooperation are welcomed and encouraged Able to work in the US legally without sponsorship.
