Position Summary: The Director of Children's and Youth Ministries will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the church's programs for children and youth from nursery age through high school, while also managing the church's digital ministry platforms and communications. This role involves developing and implementing engaging, Christ-centered programs and activities, recruiting and training volunteers, maintaining our online presence and social media platforms, and collaborating with parents and other ministry leaders to create a supportive and enriching environment for young people that promotes a healthy and growing relationship with God.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Spiritual Guidance and Mentorship:

    • Foster a nurturing environment that supports the spiritual growth and emotional well-being of young people.
    • Serve as a role model of Christian faith and practice.
  2. Family and Community Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with families to support their involvement in church activities and their children's spiritual development.
    • Communicate regularly with parents about upcoming events, program updates, and volunteer opportunities.
    • Engage with the broader community, including our local schools, to build partnerships and expand outreach opportunities.
  3. Leadership and Supervision:
    • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers involved in children's and youth ministries.
    • Provide guidance and support to volunteers and staff to ensure effective program delivery and a positive experience for participants.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  4. Program Development and Management:
    • Design, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate educational and recreational programs for children and youth.
    • Create a dynamic and engaging curriculum that aligns with the church's mission and values.
    • Plan and oversee special events, retreats, and mission trips for children and youth.
  5. Digital Ministry and Communications:
    • Manage and regularly update the church website with relevant content, ensuring timely posting of events, announcements, and ministry information.
    • Maintain proper page structure, menu organization, and visual appeal through strategic placement of images, photos, and multimedia content.
    • Oversee the church's social media presence, including regular updates to Facebook and YouTube platforms.
    • Upload and manage sermon recordings and other appropriate digital content for congregation and community access.
    • Ensure all digital communications align with the church's mission, values, and messaging standards.
    • Monitor and respond to online engagement in a timely and appropriate manner.
  6. Administration and Coordination:
    • Manage the budget for children's and youth ministries, ensuring effective use of resources.
    • Maintain accurate records and manage registrations, attendance, and communications.
    • Ensure compliance with child safety policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate digital communications with other ministry leaders to maintain consistent messaging.
  7. Additional Responsibilities:
    • Provide occasional administrative and secretarial support as needed to ensure smooth church operations.
    • Assist with general office duties, filing, data entry, and other administrative tasks as assigned by church leadership.

Note: This position may involve additional duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined above, as assigned by the Senior Pastor or church leadership to meet the evolving needs of the ministry and congregation.

Qualifications:

  • A strong, vibrant, and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A passion for working with children and youth in a way that models a deep love for God and for people.
  • A commitment to adhere to the Bible as the foundation of truth and righteousness that God has given us to live by.
  • Alignment with Southington Christian Church's mission and values.
  • A desire to obtain insight into child and adolescent development, with a humble willingness to keep learning effective teaching and leadership strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with children, youth, families, and work collaboratively with other ministry leaders.
  • Strong written communication skills for digital content creation and social media management.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers.
  • Previous experience in children's and/or youth ministry, preferably in a church setting.
  • Proficiency in website management, social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube), and content management systems.
  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with photo/video editing software preferred.
  • Comfortable with technology and digital communication tools.

Work Schedule:
