Job description

The Children’s Ministry Director is responsible for executing our mission with the next generation. You are not just managing a ministry; you are leading a movement to reach families who are disconnected from God and helping them discover the full life Jesus promised. You lead the team that aims to ensure every child that walks through our doors knows we are For them because Jesus is For them.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Leadership & Team Oversight

Cast Vision for the Christ’s Kids team through intentional and consistent discipleship, ensuring each volunteer, leader, and coach understands the "why" behind the "what."
Provide direct supervision, leadership and accountability for Christ’s Kids Preschool Director, Children’s Ministry Assistant and key ministry leads.

Vision Alignment

For Jesus: Ensure that every environment we create points kids toward a relationship with Christ. This means prioritizing biblical accuracy, keeping the Gospel at the center of our teaching, and helping children understand how to live out their faith in their daily lives.
For Each Other: Oversee a "Leadership Pipeline" where volunteers are personally known and spiritually fed. You are responsible for the spiritual health of the Christ's Kids volunteer community.
For Camden: Oversee high-visibility community bridges like Connect Camps and Preschool integration, ensuring we show compassion and dignity to every person in our county.

Mission Advancement: Leading the Disconnected

Support the journey a family takes from a "For Camden" community contact (Connect Camps/Preschool/community services) to becoming fully engaged "For Jesus" disciples.
Create Sunday environments so compelling that unfulfilled families feel a sense of belonging and hope.
Ensure teaching that emphasizes salvation comes by grace through Jesus’ sacrifice, leading kids into a lifestyle of biblical authority.
Oversee the Sunday morning experience to ensure high-energy, age-appropriate, and gospel-rich teaching.
Manage curriculum (Elementary & Preschool) to ensure it is engaging and relevant.
Direct production of weekly service elements and engaging content that extends ministry beyond Sunday.

Family Discipleship & Care

Parent Partnership: Design and execute a communication strategy that equips parents to be the primary spiritual leaders of their homes.
Milestone Management: Lead the process for Child Dedications and Children’s Baptisms, including parent interviews and resource distribution.
Pastoral Care: Provide or coordinate care for families and volunteers during times of crisis or transition.
Systems & Administration
Manage the Children’s Ministry budget and maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment.
Rigorously enforce the Child Protection Policy, ensuring 100% compliance with background checks, safety training, and ratios.
Oversee the use of Planning Center (scheduling), ProPresenter (presentation), and social media platforms.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • Ability to align Christ’s Kids with the overall vision of Christ's Church Camden and implement systems for long-term growth.
  • A "leader of leaders" who identifies, recruits, auditions, and coaches volunteers into high-capacity roles.
  • Capacity to manage a busy Sunday environment with emotional intelligence and calm under pressure.
  • Deeply aligned with being For Jesus, For Each Other, and For Camden—modeling this in every staff and volunteer interaction.
  • Proven ability to build a massive "For Each Other" culture among volunteers, ensuring the ministry scales through healthy teams, not just individual effort.

Spiritual Requirements:

As a primary leader within Christ’s Church Camden, the Children’s Ministry Director must embody the spiritual standards set forth in our Staff Lifestyle Agreement as well as actively Partner with our church. This role is one of pastoral stewardship that requires:

  • Agreement with the Christ’s Church Camden Statement of Faith, including our biblical understanding of the Trinity, baptism by immersion, the authority of Scripture, Salvation through faith alone, and God’s design for Marriage and Humanity.
  • Committed to meeting God daily through Scripture and prayer, and faithful practice of a weekly Sabbath.
  • A lifestyle that reflects biblical integrity in personal, family, and business conduct.
  • Committed to our "For Each Other" vision by committing to our Christ’s Church Camden Cultural Behaviors such as assuming positive intent, refraining from gossip, and resolving conflict biblically via Matthew 18.
  • Committed to lead by example in financial stewardship, including tithing (10%) to Christ’s Church Camden.
  • Faithful attendance at weekend services and active participation in a Message Based Group, modeling the "full life in Jesus" to the congregation.
