Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY
Wayzata Community Church (WCC) seeks a full-time Associate Minister to join our vibrant clergy team. This role involves comprehensive engagement with all aspects of our ministries, fostering connections within the congregation and the broader community. The Associate Minister will empower members in their unique ministries and enhance community involvement. Join us in this dynamic role to help us respond to and shape the future of our community.


THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop formative faith experiences. WCC values faith formation that aligns with our mission and vision for all ages and stages, so this responsibility may include specific age groups and/or multigenerational groups.
 

Identify and develop relationships with community partners. WCC desires to learn, expand and deepen members’ understanding and engagement in God’s work outside the church walls. This responsibility involves networking with mission partners and helping members engage with those partners.
 

Nurture and empower members to identify their unique calling. As a congregational church, WCC seeks to engage all members in the work of the church, helping them to find specific ways in which they use their gifts to join in the mission and vision of the church, both inside and outside our walls.
 

Collaborate with clergy in planning dynamic worship services. WCC has four unique worship services that require long range planning and creative ideas. This responsibility involves regular meetings with the Clergy and Music teams for creative brainstorming and planning.
 

Perform sacramental and pastoral duties as requested. WCC Clergy operate as a team, sharing all aspects of pastoral ministry. This responsibility includes various pastoral duties such as preaching, teaching, weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion, and special services as requested.
 

Engage with WCC members with relational ministry. This isn’t an office job. It involves regularly connecting with and ministering to WCC members of all ages and stages.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
• Report to Co-Lead Ministers
• Work with lay leadership and church committees
• Supervise staff as requested by the Co-Lead Ministers
• Attend all WCC staff meetings and committee meetings as requested

EXPECTATIONS
Work effectively on teams of clergy, staff and lay volunteers to collaboratively live out the vision and mission of Wayzata Community Church.
 

Work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and lay volunteers to imagine and create multiple pathways to deeper engagement in the life of the church that result in transformational relationships centered on learning, caring, serving, and worshiping together.
 

Expand current areas of professional expertise and develop new areas of professional interest through participation in church supported continuing education opportunities annually.
 

Participate actively in the fellowship of Wayzata Community Church recognizing that being present and engaged in the life of the church and its community is an essential component of ministry.
 

Inspire the world with the inclusive love of Jesus

 

PROFESSIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Master of Divinity degree
• Have standing (or be willing to seek standing) in the United Church of Christ
• At least three years ministry or related experience
